SADLER'S WELLS IS DANCE
A Gala Evening of Dance starring
TAMARA ROJO PACO PENA & COMPANY
ANTON DU BEKE & ERIN BOAG
RICHARD ALSTON DANCE COMPANY
BOUNCE
This very special gala night offers the chance to experience a diverse range of dance – from ballet to flamenco, to ballroom – in the spectacular and historic surroundings of the Tower of London.
The evening includes a performance from Royal Ballet Principal Tamara Rojo, in a programme of work to be announced soon.
“A dancer of enormous strength and proficiency, Rojo’s composure and command of the stage are complete” THE TIMES
Also featured is flamenco legend Paco Pena and his company of superb dancers, following critically acclaimed sell-out shows at Sadler’s Wells and the Peacock Theatre. Flurries of impeccably controlled rhythms with hand claps, castanets and lighting foot taps are set against Paco Pena’s guitar technique across a dazzling array of solo and ensemble pieces.
“If you only see Flamenco once in your life, make it this” THE INDEPENDENT ON SUNDAY
Anton Du Beke and Erin Boag, stars of the BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing are also a feature of the evening. Their glamorous Ballroom and Latin styles combine sophistication and seduction, earning them an enthusiastic following.
“Breathtaking. Anton Du Beke and Erin Boag know how to make a dance show sparkle” THE INDEPENDENT
Launched in 1994 to critical acclaim, the Richard Alston Dance Company has quickly grown into one of Britain's most celebrated and respected contemporary dance companies. Alston is widely regarded as one of the most inspiring and influential figures in British dance. Currently Artistic Director at The Place in London, it is also the spiritual home to the Richard Alston Dance Company.
Completing the line up is the BOUNCE STREET DANCE COMPANY. This exciting company is known for creating high energy, imaginative street-dance theatre, enjoying hit runs at both the Peacock Theatre and the Roundhouse. “Most impressive is the show's freewheeling way with genre: hip-hop may be the basis, but it's not a constraint. So the choreography never resorts to straightforward display, and the music careens between rap, jazz-funk, Grieg and tango, but is always apt.” (The Guardian)
